Speaking at a seminar in Islamabad on Monday, the minister said that Pakistan’s ties with the United States have strengthened and commended the efforts of the country’s diplomats in advancing national interests abroad.

“Foreign policy remains our top priority. We are focused on improving Pakistan’s relations with the world,” Asif said.

He noted that Pakistan is emerging as a reliable partner on the international stage, adding that relations with Saudi Arabia have entered a new era marked by increased investment across multiple sectors.

Ties built on mutual trust, understanding

Asif said Pakistan’s partnerships with Qatar and the UAE have also been described as exemplary, built on mutual trust and understanding.

He reiterated that China remains Pakistan’s “all-weather friend” and that both countries are committed to accelerating work on the third phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Connectivity with Central Asia

The defence minister added that Pakistan’s connectivity with Central Asian states — particularly Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan — has significantly improved, while ties with Türkiye and Iran continue to strengthen.

Asif further stated that Pakistan has emerged as an effective voice against Islamophobia on the global stage and is focusing on comprehensive reforms.

“Pakistan’s diplomacy today reflects confidence, stability, and a renewed commitment to constructive global engagement,” he stated.
