An anti-terrorism court in Lahore on Monday sent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) social media activist Falak Javed to jail on judicial remand after rejecting the prosecution’s request for an extension in her physical custody.

The case pertains to the alleged attack on Islamabad police and incidents of arson during an operation at Zaman Park earlier this year.

ATC Administrative Judge Manzar Ali Gill conducted the hearing, during which the accused was produced before the court upon completion of her 21-day physical remand.

The prosecution sought an extension in her custody for further investigation, but the court denied the request, sending Falak Javed to jail instead.

Her counsel argued that the remand period had already been completed and no further custody was warranted. The case was originally registered at the Race Course police station.

Bail hearing of Omar Cheema adjourned

Separately, the same court heard bail petitions filed by detained PTI leaders in various May 9-related cases.

The ATC Judge adjourned the hearing until November 8, directing both the prosecution and defence counsel to present their arguments at the next session.

Among the petitioners is former Punjab governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema, who has sought bail in five separate cases, including those related to the Jinnah House and Askari Tower attacks, the Zaman Park incident, and the burning of police vehicles near Jinnah House.

Sources said Cheema had filed the bail pleas from jail. He has already been convicted in four other May 9 cases, which include charges of sedition and inciting party workers to violence.
