One of the suspects, Ajlal Zaidi, was involved in a sectarian target killing incident in 2011, while another accused, Faraz, was found to have been involved in a murder case in 2022.

The sources said that the suspects received instructions from a person based in a neighbouring country.

Ajlal Zaidi has reportedly been associated with the Zainabiyoun Brigade since 2011 and was called to the neighbouring country three to four times via illegal routes (commonly known as “dunki’’).

Zaidi is said to have undergone training abroad before returning to Pakistan, after which the group conducted reconnaissance of their assigned targets and executed attacks once the orders were received.

Investigators revealed that the suspects were provided with motorcycles and weapons by unknown handlers.

Faraz, who worked as a city warden, allegedly took part in reconnaissance and killings on receiving instructions.

The sources disclosed that financial assistance was also provided to secure the release of detained group members from jail.
