The case was lodged at Nawan Kot Police Station on the complaint of ASI Mohsin Irshad after the victim’s family refused to initiate legal action.

According to the FIR, Yousaf, a resident of Mazang, was riding his motorcycle near Sodiwal when a metallic kite string wrapped around his neck, causing a fatal wound.

He was taken to Services Hospital but succumbed to his injuries on the way. Doctors confirmed that a metal-coated string had caused the injury.

Police said the case has been registered against an unidentified person under Section 322 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The victim’s father, Muhammad Munir, declined a post-mortem examination, and the family submitted a written statement before Judicial Magistrate Fahad Khan Sarwar requesting that it not be conducted.

Earlier, Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz had taken notice of the incident and directed officials to submit a detailed report.

Despite a province-wide ban, kite-flying incidents have continued to cause injuries and fatalities in Lahore and surrounding areas.

Earlier this week, a man and his daughter were injured in Bata Pur, while another youth was hurt in Muridke due to stray kite strings.
