The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has termed the recent statement of its Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) chapter president, Shah Ghulam Qadir, as unnecessary, saying that any decision regarding parting ways with the AJK government will be taken by the party’s central leadership.

According to PML-N sources, the party’s top leadership — including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, party supremo Nawaz Sharif, and PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari — will decide on future political moves.

“Neither the government is being dissolved nor is any separation under consideration at this stage,” a party insider said.

The sources added that Shah Ghulam Qadir has been advised to adopt a more cautious political approach in public statements.

Earlier, Shah Ghulam Qadir had announced that the PML-N would part ways with the AJK government, stating that if the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) brought a no-confidence motion, it would be within its democratic right.

He also maintained that the PML-N would not become part of any “unnatural or opportunistic alliance.”

Qadir said the party would now sit in the opposition and continue its political struggle within constitutional and democratic bounds.

He emphasised that only free and fair general elections could ensure a strong and stable government in AJK.

He further stated that under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif, the PML-N would run a vigorous campaign in the next elections and continue working for the welfare of refugees and overseas Kashmiris.
