A high-level Pakistani delegation, led by Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, is set to hold important talks today (Saturday) in Doha with representatives of Afghanistan’s Taliban government amid ongoing border tensions.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the primary objective of these discussions is to agree on immediate measures to end cross-border terrorism against Pakistan originating from Afghan territory and to restore peace and stability along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

The ministry’s spokesperson said that Pakistan does not seek any tension with Afghanistan but calls on the Afghan Taliban leadership to honour its commitments to the international community and take verifiable actions to address Pakistan’s legitimate security concerns.

The statement emphasised that Pakistan is particularly seeking action against terrorist groups such as the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA).

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also expressed appreciation for Qatar’s mediation efforts and expressed hope that these talks will contribute to the establishment of lasting peace and stability in the region.
