Pakistan urges Taliban to refrain from commenting on its internal affairs

Pakistan on Tuesday strongly responded to recent remarks made by the spokesperson of the Taliban regime regarding the country’s internal affairs, urging Kabul to adhere to international norms of non-interference.

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, “We have noted the recent statements made by the spokesperson of the Taliban regime regarding Pakistan’s internal affairs.“

“We strongly encourage the Afghan spokesperson to prioritise issues pertinent to Afghanistan and refrain from commenting on matters outside their jurisdiction,” the statement continued.

The Foreign Office emphasised that “the principle of non-interference in matters of other countries should be adhered to as per international diplomatic norms,” adding that “Pakistan does not require outside advice on its internal matters.”

The statement further urged the Taliban regime to honour its commitments made during the Doha Process.

“We also expect the Taliban Regime to abide by its obligations and promises made to the international community during the Doha Process,” the ministry stated.

Reiterating Pakistan’s concerns about cross-border terrorism, the Foreign Office said:

“The Taliban regime should not allow its land to be used for terrorism
against other countries. Besides, the regime should focus on formation
of an inclusive and truly representative government, instead of
engaging in baseless propaganda.”

The statement comes amid heightened diplomatic tension following recent exchanges between Islamabad and Kabul over cross-border security issues and internal political matters.
