According to sources in the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Gandapur’s resignation had already been dispatched to the Governor House a day earlier.

“We sent the resignation yesterday. Further action now lies with the Governor House,” the sources said.

However, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi denied receiving any such document.

“I have not officially received the chief minister’s resignation. When it arrives, I will act according to the law,” he told reporters in Islamabad.

The governor termed reports of his military secretary receiving the resignation as “fake news,” adding that the formal process required a summary submission through official channels.

Meanwhile, PTI leader Sheikh Waqas Akram shared what he claimed was a copy of the Governor House’s acknowledgement of the resignation.

According to him, the document was received by the governor’s staff at 10:57pm on Wednesday after coordination with the Governor’s Military Secretary.

“The Governor received Ali Amin Gandapur’s resignation last night,” Akram asserted, sharing an image of the receipt online.

Gandapur, in his resignation letter, wrote that he was stepping down at the direction of PTI founder Imran Khan.

“The office of Chief Minister was a trust from our leader, and I am returning it to him. I will fully support Suhail Afridi as the new candidate,” he said.

He added that when he took office, the province was facing severe financial and security challenges, but had since moved towards stability.

In one and a half years, “we steered the province to financial stability and countered the menace of militancy with resolute courage and unwavering decision-making.”

Gandapur expressed gratitude to party colleagues, the cabinet, MPAs, and bureaucracy for their cooperation and concluded his letter with the words: “Pakistan Zindabad, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Paindabad.”

Earlier, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja had confirmed the party’s decision to replace Gandapur with Suhail Afridi as the new candidate for chief minister.
