Earlier, the Embassy of Pakistan in Jordan confirmed that Senator Mushtaq Ahmad had been released from Israeli custody and had departed safely for Pakistan.

The mission, acting on the instructions of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, made all necessary arrangements to facilitate his smooth return.

Foreign Minister Dar also held a telephonic conversation with his Jordanian counterpart, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, to express gratitude for Jordan’s assistance in securing Ahmad’s release and safe passage.

According to the Foreign Office, both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen Pakistan-Jordan relations through sustained high-level engagement and cooperation aimed at regional peace and stability.

Senator Mushtaq Ahmad had been part of an international flotilla that set sail in late August, organised by rights activists attempting to break the Israeli blockade of Gaza.

The convoy was intercepted by Israeli forces, resulting in the detention of over 450 activists, most of whom have since been deported.

Israel’s ongoing military aggression in Gaza has claimed more than 66,000 Palestinian lives, including a large number of women and children, prompting continued global calls for an end to the violence and blockade.
