Former prime minister and PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz discussed three key political and governance issues during the session.

The leadership decided to halt hostile rhetoric and pursue a step-by-step process to iron out differences with the PPP.

The meeting follows a row sparked by Maryam Nawaz’s recent remarks about flood relief, which drew sharp criticism from PPP leaders.

Tensions earlier prompted a separate conciliatory meeting at Parliament House, where both parties pledged to end the verbal sparring and seek solutions through dialogue.

At Jati Umra, Maryam Nawaz outlined the background factors behind her comments, while PM Shehbaz briefed party elders on his contacts with PPP leadership.

Nawaz Sharif was updated on the situation in Azad Kashmir and on recent foreign contacts involving former US president Donald Trump and Arab leaders, according to participants.

Nawaz Sharif praised the government’s diplomatic efforts for peace in Palestine and stressed that remaining disputes should be settled through consultation.

He urged authorities to ensure the legitimate demands of Kashmiris are addressed and to prevent any forces that might inflame unrest.

The PML-N leadership said the ceasefire with the PPP aims to create a stable political environment, allowing both parties to focus on governance, relief work and national priorities.

Officials said further meetings and follow-up consultations will be scheduled to implement the agreed roadmap.
