Speaking to the media in Lahore on Saturday, he noted that more rainfall is expected in the coming days, urging preparedness.

Kathia stated that the families displaced by the flood have started returning to their homes, adding that damage assessment surveys have been initiated in the affected areas.

“The situation in Punjab’s rivers is now under control,” he said, adding that restoration work on flood-damaged roads is also in progress.

However, he cautioned that additional water inflows from India are likely in the coming days, and the Sutlej River may see further water release from India.

The Ravi River could receive an additional 35,000 cusecs from across the border, he added.

Kathia added that damage assessment surveys are being conducted in 27 flood-affected districts.

“Teams comprising officials from various departments are conducting these surveys in a transparent manner,” he said.

The PDMA DG acknowledged that some areas were still facing difficulties due to stagnant water, but assured that the situation is being addressed.
