According to the airline, each passenger may carry only one power bank in their hand baggage, provided it has a watt-hour (Wh) rating of 100 Wh or less, clearly marked on the device. Power banks exceeding this capacity are strictly prohibited.

The use of power banks during flights has also been banned, including charging devices or charging the power bank itself using aircraft power sockets.

Power banks must be stored in hand baggage only, either under the seat or in the seat pocket in front, and not in overhead lockers.

They must remain switched off and protected against short circuits or accidental activation.

Flydubai recommends passengers keep them in the original packaging or a protective pouch.

The carrier has also reminded travellers that power banks are not permitted in checked baggage under any circumstances.

In addition, the updated rules reaffirm broader lithium battery transport guidelines covering laptops, mobile phones, e-cigarettes, rechargeable batteries, digital cameras and other lithium-powered devices.

Electronic items packed in checked baggage must be switched off and secured to prevent accidental activation during the flight.

Passengers who are uncertain about whether their devices meet the requirements are advised to contact flydubai before travelling.

The airline also echoed Emirates’ advisory, encouraging passengers to fully charge their devices before departure, especially on longer flights, since in-flight charging options may be limited.

The new restrictions are in line with international aviation safety standards on lithium batteries and are part of wider efforts by UAE carriers to enhance passenger safety and reduce risks associated with portable electronic devices.
