Maryam announces Rawalpindi-Murree train service, inaugurates cardiology centre

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday announced the launch of a train service between Rawalpindi and Murree, while inaugurating the Nawaz Sharif Cardiology Centre in the hill station.

Speaking at the ceremony, CM Maryam said her government had fulfilled promises of development, including some “we had not even made.”

She noted that Murree’s hospitals and schools were being upgraded, with a new 100-bed hospital under construction in Kotli Sattian and a state-of-the-art facility planned in Bhurban.

The chief minister said Murree had long lacked facilities for cardiac patients, forcing residents to travel elsewhere for treatment.

“Now patients will be treated in Murree itself,” she declared, adding that the new cardiology centre was completed in record time.

The chief minister also announced that 15 green buses will soon be launched for Murree, offering free rides for students, senior citizens, women, and persons with disabilities.

She highlighted previous development initiatives of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, including the Murree Expressway and the Rawalpindi-Murree road.

“Coming to Murree feels like stepping into another country,” Maryam remarked, describing her deep personal connection with the hill station, which she called her “second home.”

The chief minister said the PML-N government was committed to service-oriented politics, asserting that while others made claims, it was her party that delivered meaningful development in Murree.
