The feature, introduced globally last year, aims to protect minors by adding stricter safeguards and limiting unwanted interactions online.

According to Meta, millions of teenagers worldwide are already using Teen Accounts on Instagram, and the company is now extending the option to Facebook and Messenger users in Pakistan.

Starting this week, all underage users in the country will be gradually shifted to the new account type.

Teen Accounts come with automated safety tools designed to address parents’ primary concerns — “who their children are talking to and what content they are viewing.”

The feature restricts access to unnecessary or inappropriate contacts and content, ensuring that young users spend their time online in a positive and secure way.

Meta said it continues to introduce new measures to strengthen parental trust and enhance online safety for teens.

Experts believe the feature will play an important role in protecting young people from online harassment and harmful content.
