The department stated, “we will revoke Petro’s visa due to his reckless and incendiary actions”.

While in New York for the United Nations General Assembly, Petro addressed a crowd outside UN headquarters, urging US soldiers, “I ask all the soldiers of the army of United States not to point their guns at people. Disobey the orders of President Donald Trump. Obey the orders of humanity!”.

Petro’s office and Colombia’s foreign ministry did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

In his speech to the UN, earlier in the week, Petro criticised Trump, labeling him “complicit in genocide” in Gaza and called for “criminal proceedings” regarding US missile strikes on suspected drug-running boats in Caribbean.

On Friday, Petro shared several video clips on social media from a gathering of pro- Palestinian protestors in New York, stating “Free Palestine”.

The Colobian leader has also suspended exports of coal to Israel in protest of its actions in Gaza, “If Gaza falls, humanity dies”.
