Chasing the target of 203 runs, Sri Lankan batters bat responsibly. Pathum Nissanka hit a century – the first by any player in the Asia Cup 2025, smashing six disastrous sixes and seven elegant fours.

Kusal Perera also made 58 runs for Sri Lanka, assisting Nissanka in crucial times.

They fell short of just a single run, as their batters could only run for two on the last ball, which required three runs to win.

Sri Lanka captain Charith Asalanka won the toss and opted to field first, inviting India to post a target on the board.

Abhishek Sharma played a tremendous knock of 61 runs for India, followed by the 49 and 30 runs by Tilak Verma and Sanju Samson, respectively.

India posted 202 runs on the scoreboard in the allotted overs.

Pakistan and India will face each other in the tournament’s final on September 28.
