In a major leap forward for Pakistan’s space programme, the country has completed preparations to launch a state-of-the-art hyperspectral satellite into space in October 2025.

According to media reports, the satellite, developed under the leadership of the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), is expected to open new horizons in mineral exploration and agricultural development.

In addition, the satellite will significantly enhance capabilities in flood monitoring, glacial melt analysis, and air pollution research, according to SUPARCO officials.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of a workshop, SUPARCO Chairman Yousaf Khan said the satellite will provide accurate data on minerals, vegetation, soil, and water quality.

“Surveys that used to take years will now be completed within days,” he stated, highlighting the satellite’s potential to pave the way for the efficient utilisation of Pakistan’s natural resources.
