3-day commemoration of Baba Guru Nanak’s 486th death anniversary begins

The three-day celebrations honouring the 486th death anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak have officially commenced today in Shakargarh, Kartarpur.

Sikh pilgrims from around the globe, as well as from various cities within Pakistan, are participating in the festivities. Meanwhile, the management in Kartarpur is actively welcoming the guests.

This marks the first arrival of foreign Sikh pilgrims since the recent tensions due to India’s water aggression.

India’s refusal to accept Pakistan’s offer to issue visas has prevented Indian pilgrims from attending the events, compounded by the closure of the Kartarpur Corridor and Wagah Border.

Despite this, thousands of Sikh pilgrims from Pakistan and beyond are expected to stay at the Darbar Kartarpur for the three-day duration.

Those arriving have called for the reopening of the corridor, emphasizing the need to keep politics separate from religion and ensuring that pilgrims are not hindered from visiting the Darbar.
