Pakistan extends airspace ban on Indian flights for another month

Pakistan has once again extended the closure of its airspace to Indian aircraft, issuing a fresh NOTAM (Notice to Air Missions) on Friday, the Pakistan Airport Authority (PAA) confirmed.

According to the notification, Indian-registered aircraft, including those owned, operated, or leased by Indian airlines and operators, will continue to be denied access to Pakistani airspace. The restriction also covers Indian military flights.

The PAA said the latest extension will take effect from 1:00pm on September 19, 2025, and remain in force until 4:59am on October 24, 2025.

The ban applies “from the ground up to unlimited altitude,” the notification clarified.

Previously, Pakistan had extended the closure until September 23, 2025. This marks the fifth consecutive month of restrictions on Indian flights.

The airspace ban was first imposed on April 23, 2025, following India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty in response to the killing of 26 tourists in the Muslim-majority region of Pahalgam, Indian-occupied Kashmir.

In retaliation, Pakistan closed its airspace, land crossings, and trade routes with India on April 24. Since then, the PAA has issued multiple month-long extensions — on May 23, June 23, July 19, and August 20 — with the latest order pushing the closure into late October.
