Authorities confirmed that nearly 70 per cent of Alipur has been engulfed, leaving hundreds of villages submerged.

The floods have destroyed thousands of acres of standing crops, orchards, and livestock, forcing millions to flee their homes.

Thousands of houses have collapsed, while displaced families now face acute food shortages.

Health officials warned of outbreaks of skin infections, diarrhea, and malaria in the flood-hit zones.

With agriculture devastated, fruits, vegetables, and animal fodder have been wiped out, compounding the humanitarian crisis.

Shujabad situation

Meanwhile, in Shujabad, the breach in the Chenab River embankment at Dhondo village has been plugged by the Irrigation Department.

The breach had earlier cut off land access to 27 villages and damaged crops and houses across six settlements.

The district administration said the breach was filled within the promised 72-hour timeframe, though strengthening work is still under way to prevent future incidents.
