The network pulled Kimmel from the air “indefinitely” after he made controversial remarks about the assassination of Charlie Kirk during the September 15 episode of ”Jimmy Kimmel Live”.

During a Q&A session before the taping of his “Late Night Show” on September 18, Colbert criticised the suspension, calling it “blatant censorship”.

He stated, “I’ll say this for my network. They wouldn’t have done this. This is weak. This is blatant censorship”.

According to CNBC, Colbert emphasised his solidarity with Kimmel and his team, saying “with an autocrat you cannot give an inch. Jimmy, I stand with you and your staff 100%”.

For context, a right wing political activist Kirk , was shot dead on September 10 at a university event in Utah.

Kimmel’s comments during his monologue included criticism of attempts to portray the shooter as anything other than part of the MAGA movement.

This suspension follows CBS’s recent announcement to cancel Colbert’s Late Night show after 10 seasons.
