The Asia Cup 2025 witnessed high drama on Sunday as the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Sri Lanka recorded vital wins to stay on course for a place in the Super Four stage.

In the first fixture, the UAE outclassed Oman by 42 runs in a dominant all-round display.

Batting first, UAE posted a competitive 172 for 5, built around skipper Muhammad Waseem’s blazing 69 and Alishan Sharafu’s steady 51.

In reply, Oman faltered under scoreboard pressure and were all out for 130, with pacer Junaid Siddique claiming four wickets to seal a comfortable win for the hosts.

Later in the evening, Sri Lanka fought against a spirited Hong Kong side to clinch a thrilling four-wicket victory.

Chasing a modest total, Sri Lanka relied on Pathum Nissanka’s fluent 68 off 44 balls to anchor their innings.

Hong Kong, however, fought back with tight bowling and sharp fielding, briefly threatening a major upset. But nerves got the better of them in the final overs, allowing Sri Lanka to scrape through and maintain their unbeaten run.
