Resolution seeking ban on TikTok tabled in Punjab Assembly

A resolution seeking a ban on the popular social media app TikTok has been submitted in the Punjab Assembly.

According to sources, the resolution was submitted by opposition member Farrukh Javed.

The resolution claimed that the TikTok “mafia” in Pakistan was promoting vulgarity and obscenity through live chat.

This application is leading the younger generation — especially children — towards indecency, it alleged.

The text further states that the application allowed young boys and girls to engage in vulgar conversations and encouraged them to indulge in inappropriate behaviour.

The resolution demanded that the Provincial Assembly urge the federal government to immediately impose a ban on TikTok and its live chat feature in order to protect the younger generation from moral collapse.

The resolution further states that such behaviour is not acceptable in an Islamic society.

The younger generation is being drawn towards TikTok in pursuit of cheap fame and money, the resolution claimed.

The resolution appealed for TikTok to be permanently banned in Pakistan.
