Police say the attacker was the victims’ own uncle, who is now under custody in critical condition.

According to police, the deceased have been identified as two sisters, Meena and Asha, along with their sister-in-law Dania.

They were killed with a sharp weapon, their throats slit in what investigators described as a “gruesome assault.”

The injured include another sister, Nandini, their neighbour Priya, and the accused uncle Ajay Ram, who also sustained injuries in what police suspect was an attempted suicide.

He has been placed under treatment at hospital under tight security, with two police officers deployed outside his ward.

SSP Malir Abdul Khaliq Pirzada and DSP Asad confirmed that the murder weapon had been recovered.

In her statement to police, injured Nandini accused her uncle of the killings, while neighbour Priya said she was attacked when she rushed inside after hearing Nandini’s screams.

Eyewitnesses told reporters that it was a young child who first raised the alarm, running out of the house to inform others that “uncle has killed everyone.”

Neighbours immediately called the police.

Relatives said Ajay worked as a driver and had been living with the family for about a year.

They expressed shock at the killings, insisting he had no known disputes with the victims.

Nandini’s mother revealed that Asha, one of the slain sisters, was due to be married in two months.

Hospital sources described Ajay’s condition as critical. Police officials said recording his statement will be crucial in determining the motive, which remains unclear.

Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar has taken notice of the Bhittaiabad killings, directing SSP Malir to submit a detailed report and ensure a transparent investigation “from all angles.”
