The instruction came during a review meeting chaired by the Prime Minister to assess flood conditions, river flows, and ongoing rescue and relief operations.

Chairman NDMA briefed the prime minister on the rising water levels in major rivers, flood surges, and the measures being taken to assist affected citizens.

The prime minister emphasised that relief efforts must be accelerated and advance evacuation ensured in vulnerable riverine areas. He stressed that residents living near rivers and in flood-prone zones must be alerted in time and shifted to safer places without delay.

PM Shehbaz also directed NDMA to maintain close coordination with provincial governments and disaster management authorities, while intensifying the search for missing persons.

Officials informed the meeting that severe flooding was being reported in the Chenab, Ravi, and Sutlej rivers at Trimmu Barrage, Panjnad Barrage, Head Balloki, Head Sadhnai, Ganda Singh Wala, Head Sulemanki, and Head Islam.

Relief convoys carrying aid supplies are being continuously dispatched to affected regions.
