Speaking at a media briefing in Karachi, Memon stated that on the instructions of Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, rescue teams have been working around the clock to evacuate people to safer locations.

“So far, a total of 133,888 people and hundreds of livestock have been shifted to safety,” the minister claimed. “In the last 24 hours alone, 5,830 individuals and 10,202 animals have been rescued.”

Sharjeel Memon noted that the critical conditions currently exist at the Panjnad and Trimmu hradworks, where exceptionally high water flow levels have been recorded.

The minister added that under the provincial government’s directives, Rescue 1122 teams have been actively saving not only lives but also livestock, and household belongings — minimising the loss to already vulnerable communities.

“This is not just an operation, it is a service to humanity,” the minister remarked.

Sharing details of water levels at key barrages, Memon reassured the public that the situation at Guddu, Sukkur, and Kotri remains under control, despite elevated water levels.

Rescue operations in full swing

Sharjeel Memon also praised the efforts of Rescue 1122 Sindh, which, he said, has played a pivotal role in supporting thousands of flood-affected families.

The most intensive rescue efforts have been carried out in Sukkur, while large-scale operations were also carried out in Shaheed Benazirabad, Naushahro Feroze, and Khairpur Mirs, where animals and goods were successfully relocated to higher ground, he added.
