After Tuesday’s torrential rains and devastating thunderstorms, Karachi has once again been shrouded in dark clouds and strong winds today.

According to reports, many areas of the city, including Saddar, Tower, Old City Area, and I.I. Chundrigar Road received heavy rain.

Moderate showers were also reported in Soldier Bazaar, Guru Mandir, Lasbela, Shahra-e-Faisal, Malir, Shah Faisal Colony, and Model Colony.

Meanwhile, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, and University Road recorded heavy rain, where the downpour also significantly reduced visibility.

Residents of Nagan Chowrangi, Federal B. Area, Gulberg, witnessed heavy rain on Wednesday evening, while the DHA and PECHS also received showers.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah had declared a public holiday in Karachi for Wednesday because of Tuesday’s unprecedented rains.

Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab warned that the city was expected to receive heavy rain after 2pm.

He also requested the citizens to stay safe and avoid road travel.

“If it starts to rain, please stay put where you are, whether it is your office or residence,” the mayor said in a post on social media.

At least 19 people have lost their lives during two days of heavy rains in Karachi, rescue officials confirmed on Wednesday.

The deaths were reported due to electrocution, wall collapses, drowning, and other rain-related incidents.

According to officials, women and children were among the deceased.

In Gulistan-e-Jauhar, a house wall collapsed, killing five people, including two women and three children.

In another incident, an eight-year-old boy died when a wall caved in at Orangi Town’s Dabba Mor.

Electrocution incidents claimed the highest number of lives, with nine people killed in different localities.

These included two brothers in Shah Faisal Colony, two men in DHA, and a 65-year-old man in North Karachi.

Separately, a fire broke out at a petrol pump in Malir City, killing one person and injuring three others.

Meanwhile, a day-old body was recovered from Block 6 of PECHS, though officials said the cause of death was yet to be determined.
