Second post-mortem of journalist Khawar Hussain completed; no torture marks found

A second post-mortem examination of journalist Khawar Hussain has been completed at Civil Hospital Hyderabad, with doctors confirming no torture marks were found on his body.

The re-examination was carried out on the request of the journalist’s brother, Ejaz Hussain.

According to police surgeon Dr Waseem Khan, CT scans and X-rays were also conducted, and samples were collected for forensic testing.

“Without the final forensic report, it is premature to state whether it was a case of suicide or murder,” Dr Khan said, adding that the medical board consisted of three experts, including a forensic specialist.

He noted that the preliminary findings will be shared within a couple of days.

Khawar Hussain was laid to rest at the local Eidgah graveyard after his funeral prayers on Monday.

A large number of political and social leaders, family members, and fellow journalists attended the funeral.

His family, including his parents and brother, arrived from the United States earlier and travelled to Hyderabad and Sanghar to attend the rites.

Speaking to reporters, Khawar’s father rejected the possibility of suicide.

“He could never shoot himself — this is murder,” he said.

“Khawar was a courageous man, and we had no disputes with anyone.”

Two days earlier, the senior journalist was found dead inside his car in Sanghar, with a bullet wound.

The incident sparked shock and anger across media circles, with calls for a transparent investigation.

Following public outcry, a high-level committee was formed to probe the circumstances surrounding his death.

Khawar Hussain was a veteran journalist who had worked for Aaj News and several other prominent television channels.

His sudden and mysterious death has left his family grief-stricken and raised serious questions within Pakistan’s media industry.
