Space X plans to launch 10th rocket from Texas

SpaceX will attempt the 10th test flight of its starship mega rocket on August 24 from its Starbase facility in Texas. The company made announcement due to build up pressure after series of explosive failures.

SpaceX announced on earlier that its Starship mega rocket is scheduled to attempt a new test flight as soon as August 24, from its Starbased facility in Boca Chica, Texas.

The rocket billed as the most powerful rocket launch vehicle ever built, is central to NASA’s plan to return the Americans to the moon and Elon Musk’s long term vision of colonizing Mars.

But repeated mishaps including midair explosion that scattered debris over Caribbean Island and disrupted air travel, have underscored the high stakes of the upcoming mission.

However, the road to the mission has been a fraught with difficulties. Several recent test flights have ended in fiery explosions, scattering debris across parts of Caribbean and even disrupting commercial air traffic.

The setbacks have underscored the technical challenges of developing a fully reusable rocket system, capable of carrying both humans and heavy cargo beyond the Earth orbit.

During two test flights earlier this year, the rocket’s upper stage which is the spacecraft intended to carry crew and cargo erupted in fiery cascades not long after launch.

The most recent launch was done in late May, marked the partial progress as Starship successfully reached space for the first time. But the mission failed miserably as the fuel tank leaked caused the spacecraft to loose control resulting in disintegration before it could attempt a splash down in the Gulf of Mexico.

The biggest and most powerful launch vehicle in history is planned to return Americans to the Moon and is central to the dreams of colonizing Mars envisioned by Musk, the world’s richest person.

But repeated explosions that sent debris raining down over Caribbean islands and disrupted flights have piled pressure onto SpaceX to pull off a smoother trial run.

During two test flights earlier this year, the rocket’s upper stage which is the spacecraft intended to carry crew and cargo erupted in fiery cascades not long after launch.

Starship managed to make it to space during the last test in late May, however it then blew up when a fuel leak caused it to lose control.

The rocket’s propulsion system was also supposed to execute a planned splashdown in the Gulf of Mexico but it disintegrated before reaching the water.
