An anti-terrorism court in Lahore has reserved its verdict in two key May 9 arson cases — one related to the torching of Shadman police station and the other to the burning of police vehicles near Rahat Bakery Chowk, close to Jinnah House.

The judgements will be announced on Monday, August 11.

According to case details, the court completed jail trials for both cases at Kot Lakhpat Jail, with Judge Manzar Ali Gul conducting proceedings late into the night.

The judge said time constraints made it impossible to deliver the verdict immediately.

In the Shadman police station case, challans were submitted against 41 accused.

Trials were conducted for 25 of them, 15 were declared absconders, and one died during proceedings. A total of 45 prosecution witnesses recorded statements in the case.

In the Rahat Bakery Chowk case, 17 accused faced trial for setting police vehicles ablaze, seven were declared absconders, and one died during proceedings.

This case involved 65 prosecution witnesses.

Prominent PTI leaders named in the cases include Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Dr Yasmin Rashid, Umar Sarfraz Cheema, Mian Mahmoodur Rashid, Ejaz Chaudhry, Aliya Hamza, and Sanam Javed.

Meanwhile, the PTI founder has approached the Supreme Court challenging the cancellation of his bail in a May 9 case.

The court has adjourned proceedings until August 11.
