A total of 27 candidates have submitted their nomination papers, including the daughter of renowned poet Habib Jalib.

According to the Election Commission, former federal ministers Hammad Azhar, Owais Anjum and Mian Jameel have submitted nomination papers on behalf of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Additionally, Rana Mashhood Ahmed and Hafiz Mian Noman are also in the fray from the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N).

From the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Tahira Jalib, daughter of renowned revolutionary poet Habib Jalib, has filed her nomination papers. Another PPP leader, Asif Nagra, is also in the race.

According to the Returning Officer, the scrutiny of nomination papers will begin on August 8, while the by-election in NA-129 Lahore will be held on September 18.

It may be recalled that this seat has fallen vacant following the death of PML-N leader Mian Azhar.
