According to the verdict, the court restrained ECP from proceeding further on the disqualification notification issued on August 5 after National Assembly Opposition Leader Omar Ayub and Senator Shibli Faraz challenged their disqualification.

Notices were also issued to the ECP and other respondents, with the hearing adjourned until August 20.

Earlier, both PTI leaders had challenged the ECP’s decision to denotify them in the Peshawar High Court.

In their petitions, they termed the decision unlawful, unconstitutional, and driven by malafide intent.

They argued that the ECP disqualified them without granting a hearing, which violated fundamental principles of justice.

The petitioners requested the court to declare the ECP’s notification null and void.

On August 5, the ECP disqualified nine PTI lawmakers, including Omar Ayub, Shibli Faraz, and Zartaj Gul, citing their convictions in cases related to the May 9 riots.
