An announcement to this effect was made by the State Bank of Pakistan Governor, Jameel Ahmad, during a press conference in Karachi on Wednesday.

The SBP governor said that a design has been selected for the new currency notes, which has been developed by an international expert.

He further said that a formal work on the new currency notes will begin after cabinet approval.

According to experts, if the new design is approved by the cabinet, printing and circulation of new currency notes could begin in the coming months.

The move is expected to play an important role in promoting transparency, security, and boost confidence in the country’s economy.

The design of the new notes has not been shared with the public as yet.

The images circulating on social media and some websites were from an art competition organised by the State Bank, and not the final design.
