May 9 case: Imran Khan challenges decision to cancel bail in SC

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan has challenged the Lahore High Court’s decision to cancel his bail in the May 9 case in the Supreme Court.

The petition requested the Supreme Court to declare the Lahore High Court’s decision null and void, stating that the allegation of aiding and abetting in the May 9 incidents was baseless.

The other accused in the case have been granted bail, and the PTI founder is entitled to bail, it stated.

The petition took the position that there is a lack of evidence in the cases. It stated that since Imran Khan was in NAB custody at the time, it was impossible for him to be involved in the crime.

The contradictory statements of the prosecution make the case suspicious, and further investigation is needed in the cases, it stated.

The petition further stated that the police avoided arresting Imran Khan for five months, which clearly shows malice.

The police’s delayed statements were unreliable, and the evidence against the PTI founder was insufficient, it added.

It is worth noting that the Lahore High Court had previously rejected Imran Khan’s bail petitions.
