According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a coordinated intelligence-based operation was conducted in different areas of Malakand district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from July 16 to 20.

Acting on intelligence, security forces cordoned off the area and killed nine terrorists after an intense exchange of fire that lasted for several hours.

The operation was carried out with the cooperation of security forces, police, Levies, Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and district administration.

The aim of the operation was to eliminate terrorists from the Indian proxy organisation “Fitna Al Khawarij”.

Authorities have started interrogating the eight arrested terrorists who have been involved in several attacks.

Security forces also destroyed two terrorist hideouts and recovered a large quantity of advanced weapons, ammunition, and explosives.

According to the Pakistan Army spokesperson, area residents appreciated the action of state institutions and assured their full cooperation.

The area people said that they stood with the forces in the fight against anti-national elements.

The ISPR said that a sanitisation operation is underway in the area to arrest or eliminate any hiding terrorists.

The Pakistani military and law enforcement agencies are actively working with the determination of the entire nation to eliminate terrorism, it added.

PM felicitates security forces

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has paid tribute to the forces for the successful operation in Malakand and praised the forces for eliminating the Khawarij terrorists.

The prime minister said that the successful operation is a great example of coordination between different institutions.

The entire nation stands with the security forces against terrorism and is determined to eradicate all forms of terrorism from the country, he added.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also paid tribute to the security forces for the successful operation and appreciated the capabilities of the security forces for the successful operation.

Naqvi said that the security forces killed nine Indian-backed terrorists and achieved a great success by arresting eight others.
