Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar, Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Armed Forces, called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir at General Headquarters (GHQ), Rawalpindi on Thursday, where both sides discussed matters of mutual interest and agreed to deepen defence cooperation.

According to an official statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting “encompassed discussion on matters of mutual interest, evolving regional dynamics, security challenges and matters pertaining to defence cooperation.”

During the high-level engagement, both military leaders “agreed to undertake defence industrial collaboration and exchange of technical expertise to address contemporary security challenges.”

Upon his arrival at GHQ, the Libyan commander laid a floral wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada to honour the sacrifices of the Pakistan Army martyrs. He was given a warm welcome and presented with a guard of honour by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Army.

The visit signifies a growing commitment between the two countries to strengthen military ties and contribute to regional stability through enhanced collaboration.
