Telegraph newspaper further stated that Sabharwal was suffering from mental problems and was traumatized by the death of his mother, gave medical clearance to the pilot in 2023. The pilot had been considering retirement in recent days to takecare for his aging father.

According to the Telegraph, a company spokesperson only admitted that medical records had been handed over to investigators. Meanwhile, the New York Post said that the initial investigation report into the crash cited the fuel shut-off button as the main cause.

According to the New York Post, Air India CEO Campbell Wilson tried to cast doubt on the fact-finding by calling the news “rumors and sensationalism.” The New York Post further said that the Indian Commercial Pilots Association claimed that Air India ignored the pilot’s personal condition, which killed 270 people in the June 12 Air India crash in Ahmedabad. Air India has not yet taken an official stance on the pilot’s mental health.

Giving the pilot control of the plane despite his deteriorating mental condition is a clear indication of Air India’s incompetence. This accident proves that Air India has no value for human lives.
