PM orders bi-monthly performance reviews of ministries

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday announced that from now on, the performance of each ministry will be regularly reviewed every two months.

Addressing a meeting of the federal cabinet in Islamabad, the prime minister stated that ministries performing well will be acknowledged, while those showing lapses or negligence will face disciplinary action.

“No one will be allowed to create a false image of success. Only real, measurable performance will be the standard,” the prime minister declared.

“Ministries that meet the standards will be appreciated. Those that lag behind will be reminded of their responsibilities,” the prime minister added.

Peaceful Muharram

Shehbaz commended provincial chief ministers, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and other departments for ensuring peaceful Muharram processions and gatherings across the country.

NDMA’s performance

Referring to the ongoing monsoon rains and resulting casualties, the prime minister mentioned a recent briefing given by the NDMA and praised its progress.

He, however, expressed concern over the recent Swat River incident, saying the tragedy highlighted the importance of better preparedness against natural disasters.

Referring to positive economic indicators, the prime minister observed that the Pakistan Stock Exchange index has reached its highest-ever level, terming it a sign of investor confidence.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to working with all institutions to ensure continued economic growth.

Praise for Ahsan Iqbal

The prime minister also praised Federal Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal for his role.

He acknowledged that while some had raised doubts about Ahsan Iqbal’s performance, the minister had surpassed expectations by pushing the development budget past Rs1 trillion, calling it a remarkable achievement.

Shehbaz reiterated that the sole focus of the government is public service and performance, stressing: “No ministry or individual will be allowed to mislead the public or distort performance figures. Only results will speak.”
