A spokesperson for the British High Commission confirmed that the UK Air Safety Board reached the decision after Pakistan introduced significant reforms in its aviation sector.

The spokesperson noted that Pakistani carriers are now eligible to submit official applications to operate services to the UK.

With this development, both the national airline and private operators will be able to reestablish routes to various British cities.

Earlier, the ban was imposed in July 2020 after revelations of a fake pilot license scandal, which prompted the UK and several European countries to suspend flights by Pakistani airlines.

The suspension not only disrupted international operations but also inflicted serious damage on Pakistan’s aviation reputation.

Officials explained that the reversal reflects improvements by Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority, including strengthened oversight, enhanced training, and regulatory reforms.

Industry sources said the move is expected to unlock fresh opportunities for Pakistan’s aviation sector and provide overseas Pakistanis with more convenient direct flight options.
