Putting PTI founder in jail did not bring political stability: Aamir Dogar

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Aamir Dogar has said that August 5 marks a pivotal date for the party’s movement, emphasising the need for both negotiations and protest amid what he described as an atmosphere of authoritarianism and repression.

Speaking on Aaj News’ talk show News Insight with Aamir Zia, Dogar criticised the government, saying that state institutions were being used against the PTI and that no other political group had been subjected to such levels of oppression.

He claimed that thousands of politically motivated cases had been filed against PTI leaders and supporters.

Dogar also questioned the political legitimacy of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, stating, “What is Maryam Nawaz’s standing on her own?”

He accused the PML-N of coming into power through force and said that even after jailing the PTI founder, the country had not seen political stability. “They stole 70 of our seats,” he alleged.

He further revealed that the PTI had attempted to build an opposition alliance with JUI-F’s Maulana Fazlur Rehman, but received no positive response.

He also addressed confusion within party ranks, suggesting that Aliya Hamza may have misunderstood certain internal developments.
