Nine dead in 24 hours in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, intense rains over the past 24 hours resulted in nine deaths, including children.

In Kohat, the roof of a house collapsed, killing one person. In Malakand, a wall collapse claimed the lives of two sisters, while in Jamrud, two girls were swept away by flash floods.

In another incident in Lakki Marwat, four children drowned in a pond.

Ten fatalities in Punjab

In Punjab, ten people were killed in weather-related accidents. In Bahawalnagar, the roof of a madrassa collapsed, killing two children and injuring 12 others.

In Arifwala, one man died while his brother was injured when the roof of their house gave way.

In Chiniot, three people were electrocuted during the rain. In Okara, lightning killed a boy and a girl, while a third girl was injured.

Two incidents of roof collapse in Okara left seven people injured, including four children.

In Tandlianwala, a four-year-old boy died in a roof collapse incident that also left four others injured.

In Renala Khurd and Pakpattan, separate roof collapse incidents injured five people, including a woman.

In Sharaqpur Sharif, lightning claimed another life.

Flooding in south Punjab and Balochistan

In Koh-e-Sulaiman, flash floods entered the Indus River, submerging many low-lying villages.

Authorities have established relief camps, while water levels in Tarbela and Mangla dams continued to rise.

In Balochistan, torrential rains led to swollen streams, particularly affecting Kohlu and Sohbatpur, where low-lying areas were submerged.

Heavy rainfall in Sadiqabad, Kot Addu, Kamalia, Sahiwal, and several cities across Punjab and Sindh turned roads into canals.

Cities like Kasur, D.G. Khan, Rajanpur, Tunsa, Sheikhupura, Jacobabad, Pakpattan, and Depalpur also reported severe disruption.

Weather outlook

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast more heavy rains across the country until July 17, warning of urban flooding in eastern Punjab.

It also forecast flash floods and landslides in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and warned of rising river levels across affected regions.

Authorities have urged residents in vulnerable areas to take precautions and remain in contact with local disaster management units.
