KP citizens to get free OPD services; Govt launches “Zindoon” card

In a groundbreaking initiative, the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday launched the Zindoon OPD Card, aimed at providing free outpatient medical services to the public.

The program was officially inaugurated by Advisor to the Health Department, Ehtesham Ali, and was launched as a pilot project in Mardan, Kohat, Malakand, and Chitral.

With a budget allocation of Rs2 billion, this initiative has been launched in collaboration with the German development agency KFW.

The Zindoon and OPD Card will provide free medical check-ups, free diagnostics and free medicines.

Following the success of the Sehat Card Plus, which provided free inpatient treatment, the provincial government is now extending free OPD (Outpatient Department) services to the public — a major step toward universal health coverage.

Citizens can check their eligibility by sending their CNIC number via SMS to 9930.

Officials described the Zindoon Card not just as a service, but a guarantee of a dignified life for the people of the province.

This health reform marks a significant milestone in improving access to quality healthcare in KP, especially for underserved and remote communities.
