Heavy rains lashed Lahore and parts of Balochistan on Wednesday night, causing widespread flooding and paralysing life.

Lahore received 136 mm of rainfall over eight hours on Thursday, the highest in recent history.
Several areas of the city turned into waterways, submerging low-lying neighbourhoods and flooding homes.

In multiple incidents, roof collapses claimed two lives and injured at least eight others.

The heaviest rainfall was reported in Nishtar Town (182 mm), Iqbal Town (179 mm), and Gulberg (141 mm). Areas like Tariq Colony were submerged under stagnant water.

According to Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari, it had been raining in Lahore for the last 5-6 hours.

She said all WASA teams were in the field to clear water from low-lying areas and underpasses.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has ordered swift water drainage and road clearance to prevent urban flooding.

Emergency rescue teams responded to roof collapse incidents in several localities, including Achhra, Nishtar Colony, and near Lahore Railway Station.

In one tragic case, a two-year-old girl, Zainab, lost her life when a roof gave way, while others, including children, sustained injuries.

All injured individuals are reported to be in stable condition.

According to the Meteorological Department, an average of 141 mm of rainfall has been recorded in the city so far.

The Motorway Police reported heavy rain along major highways including the M-2, Lahore-Sialkot Motorway, and M-3.

Drivers have been advised to exercise caution due to slippery roads and reduced visibility.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) issued alerts across Punjab following rain-related incidents in the last 24 hours that left three dead and 22 injured.

Fatalities were reported from Sheikhupura, Vehari, Bhakkar, and Dera Ghazi Khan, mainly due to collapsing structures.

Balochistan: Flash floods claim 10 lives

Devastating rains continued to lash Balochistan, affecting districts, including Khuzdar, Zhob, Kohlu, Ziarat, Loralai, and Lasbela.

Flash floods and structural collapses caused the deaths of 10 individuals, including four women and four children, while at least seven others were injured.

The PDMA reported that one house was completely destroyed and 15 others partially damaged.
In Ziarat, a school building sustained serious damage. Relief and assessment operations are underway to determine the full scale of the losses and to begin rehabilitation efforts.

Authorities have warned residents to avoid riverbanks and low-lying areas due to the risk of sudden flooding.

The Meteorological Department has forecast more rain over the next 24 hours, prompting emergency services to remain on high alert.

Public Advisory

Citizens have been requested to stay away from power lines, dilapidated buildings, and flood-prone areas.

Parents have been advised to keep children away from pooled rainwater and open drains.
