KP government is bound to fall, says Amir Muqam

Federal Minister and senior PML-N leader Amir Muqam has said that the fall of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government is inevitable, claiming the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led setup is already on the verge of collapse due to internal divisions.

Speaking on Aaj News’ programme News Insight with Amir Zia, Amir Muqam said, “We are not bringing down the KP government; it is already falling apart on its own.”

He alleged that PTI is no longer united and insisted that the opposition has sufficient numbers to move at the right time.

Time will reveal who stands with us,“ he added.

Addressing the recent Swat tragedy, Muqam described the incident as deeply painful.

He said he personally visited Daska to condole with the bereaved families and even offered an apology.

Commenting on the anti-encroachment drive in Swat, he said, “My hotel is not an illegal construction. I possess complete building plans and NOCs. The operation was carried out to distract public attention.”

He also criticised PTI’s 12-year rule in KP, saying the government failed to take timely action against illegal encroachments. “They should’ve issued notices and acted earlier,” he stated.

In response, senior PTI leader and former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, also speaking on the same programme, dismissed any speculation about defections within PTI.

“The people of KP stand with the founder of PTI. No MNA or MPA is switching sides,” he asserted.

Qaiser said the opposition in the KP is composed of political losers who cannot destabilise the province.

“No one is foolish enough to risk their political career for a short-term gain of one or two years,” he remarked.

He further accused the federal government of using distractions to divert public attention from real issues, claiming the people remain steadfast in their support for PTI.
