Heavy rainfall is forecast across several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa between July 5 and 11, prompting the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) to issue an alert to all district administrations.

According to the Met Office and PDMA, persistent downpours could trigger flash flooding in streams, urban flooding in low-lying areas, and landslides in mountainous regions.

The PDMA’s advisory lists the districts likely to be affected, including Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Buner, Malakand, Battagram, Shangla, Kohistan, Kolai-Palas Kohistan, Torghar, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Charsadda, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Kohat, Hangu, Bannu, Karak, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, and North and South Waziristan.

Authorities have warned of a heightened risk of urban flooding in Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Kohat, and D.I. Khan, while water levels could rise significantly in the Chitral, Swat, Panjkora, and Kabul rivers.

The PDMA also cautioned that landslides may occur in hilly areas of Abbottabad, Battagram, Buner, Dir, Chitral, Shangla, Kohistan, Malakand, and Mansehra, advising residents to remain vigilant.

District administrations have been instructed to implement emergency preparedness measures and keep rescue services on standby.

The advisory further recommends informing communities in vulnerable locations and urges tourists to avoid unnecessary travel during the forecast period.

Residents have been asked to report any emergencies promptly by calling the helpline at 1700 to enable swift response and relief efforts.
