PTI will not make any request for talks with anyone: Salman Raja

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary-General Salman Akram Raja has categorically stated that the party will not make any move to initiate talks with the establishment or seek dialogue with any quarters.

Speaking on Aaj News’ programme News Insight with Amir Zia, Raja emphasised that it is the establishment’s responsibility — not PTI’s — to initiate any communication.

“We are not going to request negotiations with anyone,” he said, adding, “If the establishment wants talks, it is up to them to take the first step.”

He criticised the current political environment, describing it as a system devoid of space for constitutionalism and democratic freedom.

“The people of Pakistan have been dismissed and treated like cattle,” he remarked.

Raja clarified that PTI has not received any message or pressure from jailed party leaders to pursue negotiations, and there is currently no plan to resign from the assemblies.

“Letters from imprisoned leaders are nothing new — they’ve been writing them from time to time,” he noted.

Regarding PTI’s future course of action, Raja said that only party founder Imran Khan will make final decisions, and that a nationwide political movement will begin after Muharram, with a clear strategy already in place.

“The voice will echo across the country. Imran Khan will speak for the restoration of the Constitution and democracy,” he stated.

He added that leadership is temporary and repression cannot last forever.

“Whether or not we have numbers in the National Assembly makes little difference,” he said.

“Even without a presence in the assemblies, it won’t matter—our struggle is rooted in the will of the people.”
