      <title>Government hikes petrol, diesel prices</title>

&lt;p&gt;According to a statement from the Finance Division, the price of petrol has been increased by Rs8.36 per litre, raising it from Rs258.43 to Rs266.79 per litre.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The price of High Speed Diesel (HSD) has gone up by Rs 10.39 per litre, now costing Rs 272.98 per litre, up from Rs 262.59.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The Finance Division explained that the price adjustment was made based on recommendations from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and relevant ministries.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Sources also revealed that the government has restructured the petroleum levy (PL), introducing a carbon tax of Rs 2.50 per litre.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;As a result, the PL on petrol has been reduced from Rs 78.02 to Rs 75.52 per litre, while the PL on HSD has been cut from Rs 77 to Rs 74.51 per litre.&lt;/p&gt;
