CII urges citizens to reaffirm loyalty to constitution amid rising extremism, sectarianism

The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII), amid of escalating concerns over extremism, sectarianism and anti-state rhetoric, issues a detailed declaration calling on all Pakistani citizens to reaffirm their loyalty to the constitution and the state.

The declaration warns that any public or private educational institution found promoting militancy or extremism will face legal consequences.

Additionally, the CII denounced any disrespect toward the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), his Companions (RA), and the Ahl al-Bayt (RA), labeling such acts as unacceptable. It also strictly prohibited the practice of declaring others as non-believers (takfir).

It underscores that all citizens are constitutionally obligated to honor their oath of allegiance, noting that while the Constitution guarantees freedom of belief, worship, and peaceful assembly, any form of armed rebellion or violence against the state constitutes a serious offense.

Expressing full confidence in Pakistan’s armed forces, the CII emphasized the importance of national unity, urging citizens to stand firmly with the country’s defense institutions.

The Council also stressed that it is both a religious and national responsibility to reject movements based on ethnic, regional, or sectarian biases.

It supported the state’s authority to take firm legal action against those spreading hatred, violence, or disorder in society.

The Council concluded by affirming that forcing beliefs upon others through coercion or violence is in direct violation of Islamic principles, and urged citizens to embrace tolerance, unity, and adherence to both the Constitution and Shariah in a peaceful and democratic manner.
