In light of the expected weather conditions, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an advisory valid through July 1, calling on authorities to remain prepared for potential weather-related emergencies.

The Met Office has predicted intermittent rain across various regions of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir. Due to the intensity of the expected downpours, there is a risk of water accumulation in low-lying areas, as well as potential flooding and landslides in hilly regions.

Heavy rains in cities such as Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Bagh, Rawalakot, and Muzaffarabad could cause flash floods and overflowing of local streams.

In Sindh, areas including Sukkur, Larkana, Hyderabad, Karachi, Tharparkar, Mirpur Khas, Thatta, and Badin are also expected to experience strong winds, storms, and thunderstorms accompanied by rain.

Peshawar, Swabi, Chitral, Dir, Haripur, Karak, Kohat, and Kohistan districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are likely to receive heavy rain, potentially leading to waterlogging in lower areas.

The Met Office has also forecast rainfall in Gilgit-Baltistan and northern areas, with chances of thunderstorms and hail in higher altitudes.

Meanwhile, rain has already begun in Islamabad and surrounding areas, bringing a welcome drop in temperatures and a pleasant change in the weather.

NDMA has instructed all relevant authorities to remain on high alert and ensure preparedness to respond promptly to any emergency situations that may arise.
