The police arrested one of the attackers in a wounded condition, while three others managed to escape.

The incident occurred in the kitchen area of the prison, where the prisoners were being transported back to the jail.

According to police, the assailants targeted the van, leading to the death of prisoner Hashim Rind on the spot, while Sikandar Gopang and Ghulam Ali Rind sustained injuries.

The police retaliated with gunfire, which resulted in the arrest of an attacker, identified as Wahab Rind, son of Ranjhan, who was wounded during the exchange.

The injured prisoners and the deceased were later transferred to Civil Hospital Khairpur for medical treatment.

After the attack, SSP Hassan Sardar Niazi launched investigations and ordered the tightening of security at the Central Jail to prevent any further incidents.
